This is interesting.

My brother plays and talks about nothing but golf, watches tournaments on TV, etc.

I hate golf. Not because I find it boring to watch (which I do), but because it is the most environmentally awful sport in the world. By far.

I hate golf for the same reasons as Alex, though for me, the boredom factor is top. Car racing is very boring too.

F1 and other car racing wastes fuel, and has a bad case of emissions. Noise pollution too.

Golf has huge amounts of useless grass, a high cost of maintenance, and a humongous waste of water for irrigation.

That land could have some flowers and be a nice environment for pollinating bees, butterflies, and wildlife. Instead, they serve a few people that do not care about the environment we are killing.

OTOH, as an aviator, they have the plus that many make a ready place for emergency landings. That's about it.
