Attackers have time and budgetary constraints too.

[<3 manlethotline To anyone wondering if it's worth it to tear down fascist posters or whatever. | spent a few months last year engaged in silent battle with another student at my school who was putting anti trans stickers up everywhere. | had it down to a system where every night | would walk the five block radius they went up in, and tear down all the ones | could reach, and use a stick to put duct tape over the others. Like, within hours of the stickers going up. | would have already purged the whole zone. | knew the basic schedule of whoever put them up based on when and where the stickers appeared. | probably could have found them in person if I'd wanted to. And | told all my classmates and friends what the stickers looked like and got them to rip them down too. And after a few months of this, the stickers slowed, and then stopped forever. My point is, a lot of this fashy or right wing stuff is one local weirdo. And if you pay attention, and do a little light organizing with your friends, you can basically make their efforts into a giant sisyphisean exercise in misery. You control your streets! [A alleecatblues Remember: It costs money to keep printing those stickers, but ripping them down is free.

tho, for situational awareness, the fash have been known to put razorblades and other harmful objects behind their posters.
Please exercise caution and wear PPE if you engage in this activity.

so true
there's been a spate of "immigrants ruined this country" ones around here, and new ones keep popping up, but within about two days of it starting I've stopped seeing ones that aren't ripped or defaced. folks are shredding them faster than they go up.
I've been tempted to get some more positive stickers printed to cover their remains.

I had a similar experience in the Covid pandemic. A bunch of conspiracist anti-vax stickers appeared on lamp posts around town here. I took to tearing them off, or if stuck down too well I'd apply a marker pen. The next week I found someone else had got there with the marker before me, and a couple of weeks later they stopped appearing.

Still, it would have been a good feeling to not only find that person, but to beat the shit out of him... 🤔

Just to yes, and, consider that covering them up with spraypaint, or markers, or different stickers, or even just tearing the sticker up with the sharp bits of your keys is sometimes faster and easier than tearing them down.
Also, don't forget about wheat pasting, it often ends up cheaper than all of this other stuff.

Just be careful of razors stuck in behind them. Because yes, these wastes of flesh do that sometimes.

I wonder if the old cliche applies to this nefarious individual; i.e., he's desperately trying to camouflage his own sexual inclinationsand secret desires from himself.

I understand the same is true of graffiti. If it is removed immediately, the “artists” (vandals) become demotivated and stop doing it.
For example, Inverness removes graffiti immediately so there is none .

someone keeps tearing down my pro-2SLGBTQIA stickers (mostly pro-trans rights). I bet they think they won but I just got busy prepping an art show. They’ll be going back up when the weather allows.

heya, when you use a robot to do alt text, please correct the result, the screen reader does a pause each time there is a line break (and it's nice to add context too)

Simly putting other stickers over their stickers also works. When they try to remove your sticker it costs them time, effort and annoyance and their own stickers get damaged.

Multitools are great for this. Pocketable, and if the sticker's on really well, you can lift with knife, scrape or deface with screwdriver, bottle opener might be able to pry a nail if you hook it in there right, etc.

It's also worth doing this because it destroys the bigot's belief they're "just saying what everyone else thinks." When they see coordinated, silent opposition, they quail.

I loathe grafitti, but 100% when I see a swastika carved in the employee bathroom I further carve it into four squares, each with a letter spelling out “L O V E”

I have done this too. Almost exactly the same, a daily patrol of the streets around my kids school, removing anti trans stickers from lamp posts! I know one of the teachers did the same, and the kids would cheer you if they saw you doing it, because these days, the kids are alright!

I cannot emphasize enough how much this is true. Ripping/painting over this BS is an effective use of your time. But also: on a "Biden is a traitor to America" sign I put "Trump" over and let others take it down.
