A German experiment gave people a basic monthly income. The effect on their work ethic was surprisingWell, not really. Not for me, at least. As one expert in the field puts it:
Matthew Johnson wrote:This study confirms growing evidence that we and others have long presented: there is no evidence that Basic Income reduces economic and labour market activity.
It's no rocket science: if nobody has leverage over you because you depend on them for income, you're free to spend your time and efforts in the way you want, instead of how your boss wants you to. And nobody wants to sit on their asses doing nothing all day every day, you get bored and feel useless pretty quickly.
We've known this for ages, every experiment reaches the same conclusion: people will still work, and they'll feel much better.
Let's finally move ahead and talk about how to make #
UBI (Universal Basic Income) a reality.
Moving away from the current system to UBI will change things, what can we expect and how is it going to impact society?
And most of all: how can we finance it? Giving all your citizens enough money to live, means spending an incredible amount of money, every month.
It's society paying society, but where is that money coming from?
