I'll tell you how this ends. We get an uproar (Dutch word: ophef, which if funny because the inofficial name of the bridge is "Hef"), because we don't want a rich guy to get his way just because he's rich. And then there will be some lobbies, stating that it would be the end of Dutch ship building there if we're not flexible, and in the end Bezos will get his way because he doesn't give a shit about spending a couple of extra millions to remove and rebuild that bridge.

No official request has been made, but that doesn't mean that there haven't been any talks about it under the table. I can hardly imagine the shipyard not knowing it can't pass under that bridge, as @Ton Zijlstra already said.

The fact that Aboutaleb, the mayor of Rotterdam, hasn't seen an official request yet, doesn't mean all that much. I think Bezos and his henchmen will try to get everyone on board (pun intended) for a removal of the bridge before the official request is sent. I'm sure he'll try to bribe a few people, and although we have strict rules against it, I'm sure some will fall for it.
