Today I visited
Bax Shop for the first time. Nice place, big! And I was helped by a nice young fellow who seemed to know quite a bit and who didn't try to sell me anything.
The idea was to buy 2 #
MIDI keyboards and a device with which I could couple them, and add a pedal board, a swell pedal and maybe a third #
keyboard in a later stage.
Unfortunately they didn't have anything like the
Virtual Organ Console Unit, and I wasn't really sure if I needed a MIDI input and/or passthrough port on my keyboards. I think I do. The
keyboard I had in mind only has output, and because I didn't want to risk buying keyboards that turn out not to be what I need, I didn't buy anything.
On one hand I'm disappointed that I can't start practice yet, but on the other hand I'm glad I could resist the urge to buy a keyboard anyway.
So, back to the drawing board. I'll have to dive into MIDI a bit more (apparently "old" MIDI and MIDI-over-USB are slightly different..?) and see what exactly what I do and do not need.
