When someone is standing next to you in a public Swimming pool in the water, doing panoramas videos with his bagged cell phone, directly uploading your location, body, face profile to tikitok, and you enviously notice some (presumably) woman with a burkini that even covers the face - then you start to notice that we can learn a lot from other cultures...

I am waiting for the day that someone films openly, or installs a security cam, in front of the urinals in the men's room (I'll keep you updated...). While I can relate to @Hans van Zijst's post about liberty of showing nudity, liberty would be defined by having the choice.

Volgens mij twijfelde niemand eraan dat ze een kamer zou vinden. Vast een ruimere dan waar ik destijds in bivakkeerde ook. Ik vermoed dat haar oom, de pandjesprins of woningkoning, nog wel ergens iets achter de hand had.

Dat kloppt :) maar ik begrep het niet. Er zijn veele jaarplaats huurders van Duitsland die zinds jaaren veel tijd in Nederland gesleten hebben en geen Nederlands leren. Geen leuk beld van Duitse :)

@Ditje In Nederland is er een TV-programma "Ik Vertrek", waarbij de hoofdpersonen een hotel of pension in het buitenland kopen en proberen dat winstgevend te maken. Vaak spreken die mensen ook de taal van het land niet, en het is geen uitzondering dat je ze vervolgens hoort mopperen dat de lokale bevolking geen Engels spreekt. Ik vind dat hilarisch.

Als je op vakantie gaat naar een land, zal niemand van je verwachten dat je de taal spreekt. Als je er daadwerkelijk gaat wonen en er een bedrijf gaat voeren, mogen mensen van je verwachten dat je op z'n minst je best doet om de taal te leren.

Natuurlijk. Alleen voor vakantie moet geen een de tal van het land leren. Maar als je tientalen jaaren een campeerplaats huurd toch ;-)

Oh, I can. Probably the same density as the traffic jams to the east here on a Sunday after a festive weekend, where 75% is German, 20% Belgian and a handful of Dutch ;-)

Ja, een conferentie hosten zonder Big Tech en met open source tools is mogelijk. Het kost wel wat moeite om alles zelf op te zetten en aan elkaar te knopen maar dat is de investering meer dan waard.

En zo doe je dat! Roep nou nog maar eens dat we niet zonder die grote bedrijven kunnen, die ons "gratis" diensten aanbieden maar ons ondertussen in een zak naaien.

Waar een wil is, is een weg. En bij @PublicSpaces is die wil er.

Dat is het ook. Daar had je de kerk voor om daar een mening over te hebben, en de staat om dat af te dwingen.

Hetzelfde gaat op voor homohuwelijken en transrechten. Als de staat vanaf het begin dit vrij liet dan waren alle drie nu legaal gezien geen probleem. En waarschijnlijk ook eerder geaccepteerd.

@Sacha Ligthert 🇳🇱🇬🇧 Dat is een beetje het probleem met Google: dat laten ze je niet weten. Mail komt "gewoon" niet aan. Als je wat wilt gaan graven, kan je Google's eigen tools gebruiken, maar... daarvoor moet je uiteraard inloggen met een Google-account. En die heb ik uit principiële overwegingen niet.

Ik heb overigens zojuist een testbericht gestuurd naar iemand die schaamteloos z'n mail bij Google doet, en die kwam aan. Zijn antwoord naar mij ook. Dat is lekker zoeken dus.

@Adam Hunt And I really don't want to spend time debugging communication with Google. My server follows all the latest standards and is not on any blocklist that I know of (automatically checking a long list of blacklists every day).

But it's in Google's interest to make communication with small platforms difficult, because that could be a reason to move to Google. Google always works, the small servers don't.

But again: f*ck 'em.
