I hope that Ukraine becomes a symbol of greatness and moral strength that Putin will have to face until he dies. They kept peaceful and deliberate even when facing the worst.

Now, who is first to nominate Selensky for the Nobel price of peace...?

That's a pickle, indeed. No sane person would use nukes, but we're talking about Putin here. No way of knowing what he might do.

If my sources are correct, the majority of Russians don't want this war, but saying so is a dangerous thing to do in Russia. But yes, probably the best way to end this shit would be if the Russian people would seize power and send Putin to The Hague. Or some nice camp in Siberia.

The political games will, of course, continue if Putin loses power. But it at least opens the door to possible progress.

Also, it sends a message to the next Putin wannabe about the dangers of imprudent over-reach.

I'm not naive, I know there are lots of oppressive authoritarians out there. A Putin humiliation in Ukraine isn't going to magically sweep the globe clean of them. But it might at least give their neighbors some more security.

I think it isn't Putin in power but the multi billionares from the oil industry. That is why they are blocking their money. Sad thing is it does not even help. Putin will simply sell oil/gas to china

True, that. There will always be assholes, but there's always a way to get rid of them too, if enough people really want to. Of course Putin has dug himself in very deep over the years, by incarcerating or killing opposition, forbidding parties and intimidating everyone who disagrees with him. But still, if the people of Russia reach the point where they say "enough is enough", he could be 6 feet under really quick.

Of course you don't know who will succeed him. Could be that his successor turns out to be a kleptocratic, powerhungry megalmaniac too... It's happened before in history. Not long after the French beheaded Louis XVI, they got Napoleon. And not long after the Russians shot the czar, they got Stalin.

@Hans I think Putin is very much in charge indeed, his rich buddies however can turn on him if his actions start to cost them money. If money is at stake, a backstab isn't far away. There's no honour among thieves.

It all looks like he is playing a game. There are incidents in the east since 2 years and I think Putin was hoping the capture of Crimea was going to lead to a pro-russian government. It didn't work out that way.

Now if there where no value in the earth within the borders like there wasn't in former Yougo then both Russia and the West would not even care about the area. It however holds a lot of valua so yes, they all are fighting and we can only hope there is any reason in how they deal with the people.

It makes me sad, very sad

@RockyIII Sorry, but honestly, I really cannot spare a full hour for watching a video just to find out what you might be referring to - Is there a summary what you man by that link?

I might gave got carried away by the injustice done here, granted. But I am honestly impressed how considerate reactions of the Ukraine was in face of that scenario that now got real (which is hard to say about Putin).

@Witcraft you can´t shorten everything in to few sentences... that´s the problem with the News on TV today.

Mr. Selensky and others know very well about the scenario which became now reality. He is talking about a III. World War since quid some time.

The situation is complex.

Selensky is calling now all man to defend the Ukraine with arms... but all which will die now will lose there life in a battle that can´t be won like that, we all know.

The regime of Russia has to be vanquished in different ways...now the whole world sees that there is really a need to do so. That is the new insight.

Yes, not everything should be shortened. OTOH, I have too little spare time to watch long videos without understanding and prioritizing relevance. So I am used to filter content based on its abstract (or the absence thereof).
