Agree. But I do want to play a few games every now and then. And since I have a massive beast of a PC here, I want to run Windoze on it.
Previous attempts to install it failed, because Windoze didn't see either the NVMe nor the SSD. Linux did, of course, but I want to install Windoze first, so it can't screw up my bootloader.

To be honest, windows does see nvme.2 and ssd but I did need to help him out when he bought the official version. nvme.2 indeed is so much fun, about 6 times faster then ssd :-) I did see sticks that might be 10 times faster.... tempted....

The one Randy mentioned is just funny. They tried and it does mean you can trick them. It is a bit like nmap not able to guess your kernel version. Change one char in the version and they are confused.

If your games are on Steam, they will also run on Linux. Sometimes even better than on Windows. ^^

Thanks, that looks promising! I'll try to install this machine tomorrow (ok: later today) and see how far I get.

If my games are on steam, but I don't have steam, and bought the games offline, will I then be able to run them on Linux or are the adaptations made by steam only available to steam users?

I know he has had that problem with several games. Well, he's happy, so am I since I do not know anything about windows ;-) (kept telling everyone until they started to believe me :-). He knows I can work with it but I just do not feel like it.

Ah, wait. I was thinking like a Linux-user, but Windoze is more difficult than that. Apparently it's too easy to simply drop an ISO onto a disk with "dd": you have to create a partition table, a partition of the correct type, make it bootable, format it for NTFS and then copy the entire content of the ISO to that partition...
Let's hope this is the last time in my life that I installed Windoze.
