It's impossible to replace a default @Windows installation with a Linux distro without feeling better about yourself.
...or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux.

True that, and your computer acts like it is alive again, responding in 1/5th of the time Windows needed ;-) What you call a win-win situation.

And you can do updates without having to reboot several times in a row.

Every visit to my parents (RIP) I had to update the Windows (she refused to use anything else) machine she used. When started, it went on every single time for 90+ minutes before the damn machine was ready with all updates for MS Shite, anti-virus crap, anti trojan and malware stuff, firewall and whatever more was needed to keep the machine just a little bit safe :-(

I use Windows every now and then for a game, so I know exactly what you mean: updating Windows after not having done so for a few weeks takes ages.
And I don't really understand why those updates have to be tens of gigabytes. Bloatware.

Indeed, but even a small one takes forever and a day, really weird, not a clue what the heck they are doing to take that long. I suspect they do not use incremental backups or even just replace the (loose) parts that need replacing, but they replace the whole shabang and caboodle.
