I have heard it performed (by a professional) in the cathedral in Berlin, that was a terrific experience, you feel every single not in your bones, not something a video or radio performance can bring you. But this is a very promising talent for the future, and a great taste in Music also. Not a very usual instrument for a kid to play! And also: WOW, there is still hope for the next generation ;-)

That's something I want too. This one, and the Fantasia and Fuge in G minor. Such majestic and massive music... The Wall of Sound wasn't invented in the 1960's, but in the 1600's.

I haven't been able to enjoy organ music for a long time, because I always associated it with the church. Yup, everyone has his trauma ;-)

The performance in Berlin was my first experience of a (huge) church organ belting out on full power, wow, blew my socks off! I suffered the same trauma, it was beaten into me that churches were bad places (my parents were Jehovas Witnesses) when I married again, my now wife came from a Catholic nest, and she just assumed that i went with her to burn a candle for those who died. Not religious in any was shape or form, but still i like this tradition, and when we visit a church nowadays, i burn two candles one for each of my parents. They are dead, and do not care anymore, and for me it is a gesture that heals and helps me a bit.

My first (and so far only) real life experience of organ music was a few years ago, when I visited the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam for the Symphonie avec Orgue by Saint-Saëns. The fourth movement is absolutely magic: organ ("the king of instruments") plus a full symphony orchestra. Goosebumps!
