Retweeting/boosting/quoting isn't the same as agreeing.

I can honestly say that every person I’ve seen demanding “Quote Tweets” on Mastodon is someone who relies on creating anxiety or anger in their Twitter followers via quote dunking.

There’s no need for them if you’re creating healthy content.

And I think we have a case of "when you're a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail" here. "I had this problem, so everyone has this problem".

@Charlie O'Hara I don't agree with the position that retweet-with-comment is engagement-enhancement.

A boost as-is, without any comment, doesn't necessarily mean anything, as I've showed you with my "retweet". Having the option to add comment to something you retweet can actually make it clear what you mean and why you retweeted it in the first place.

In your own reactions to the OP you say you "got sucked into it" yourself, and this type of citing someone is used to "steal someone else's content" and the reactions to it. That might be the average attitude on the birdsite, but this here is not Twitter. Most people here don't lust for likes or followers, they just want some honest discussions.

And yes, I do agree that that's how it works for some, but I have a problem with your claim that everyone who want this, "relies on creating anxiety or anger in their Twitter followers via quote dunking".

I didn't do that when I retweeted your post with comment, did I? I used it to open a discussion.
