Nice, an #opera of #Wagner on TV: #Rienzi.

Always a good way to "do" an opera for the first time: in the comfort of your own house, cats on your lap and subtitles to help you understand what's going on.

Unfortunately it's 23:00 already, and tomorrow is a work day, so I can sit here for another 4 hours to see the entire piece...

@SilenceisGolden Oh yes, that's modern days. Last time I was in the theatre for an opera, Mozart's Don Giovanni, they had huge subtitles over the stage. Fantastic.

I still remember the old days when I was at a concert, but never understood a word of what was sung. My dad usually briefed me before, explaining the bigger story and a few lines here and there, but as a little boy I still missed almost all lyrics. Still loved the music though.
