I thought that doing #MeshCore experiments would distract me and cheer me up...

2 HOURS LATER, I'm still unable to send messages with my Heltec v3 - and I wasted a Fedi friend's two hours (he's a saint), failing to get Reticulum to work as backup.

Well, my Heltec gets messages from as far away as Sanremo (thinking of you @tommi) but nobody gets what I send 😭

Please send pics of cute pets to cheer me up

@_elena @tommi I hear you man. I can get *tons* of receiving messages but very rarely do any of mine propagate, from my apartment at least. Here is a friend's dog up to no good.

@_elena @tommi I was running into this issue with Meshtastic, and it turned out I had two problems. (not that this has any applicability to your situation, of course)

1. Aftermarket antenna I attempted to put on a node just didn't work. Still not sure if it's working.

2. Upstream node I was able to talk to (and which was sending messages my way) could not send out, only receive. So all my stuff got blocked at their node.

@_elena @tommi not sure how it works with MeshCore, but, at least with Meshtastic, you are gonna have a bad time transmitting unless you're high up. Unless you hit a repeater. There's a repeater on a mountain I have almost line of sight with and that's how I'm able to tx.

@_elena Coraggio! I'm sure you'll find a solution. I've heard, from MeshCore people who know much more about this than I do, that this is a common experience in cities. I have a little node with a crappy antenna, and I found that when I pinged the nearest repeater, it only worked near the street and at a certain height. So I bought a repeater with a better antenna, and installed it there. Now my messages are received. My beginner's impression is that height and the antenna are the two main factors.

@_elena I tried meshcore with 2 x heltecs, cases and ariels but even when messages started flowing it was just random text. I get the use case in areas with no other carrier, but (for me) anywhere there is mobile or WiFi *I* see no point tbh. They are in a drawer now 😊

No pet sorry but imagine my sad puppy dog eyes when I get nothing on meshcore..
