Awesome! The Danish citizen’s petition against EU’s chat message surveillance has reached the required 50,000 votes.
By law, this means the citizen’s petition now forces a vote in the parliament of Denmark, no matter if the government wants it or not.
This is important, because the governing Social Democrats are very much pro mass surveillance, but they may not have a parliament majority behind rejecting this — especially not this close to the local elections, Nov. 18.
