Personally, I think it is a marketing stunt by a startup who is not interested in actually solving the problem. I may be cynical though.

@Jan Vlug Seems to be a serious EU effort to create a platform where everyone can post, but where everybody is verified. That means you'll have to trust EU laws instead of Musk or Suckerberg.

Would mean that hate speech, disinformation and other Twitter-like abuse can be easily prosecuted if necessary, which would make moderation a small effort.

As far as I gathered, it's not open source, and it uses the AT Protocol, like BlueSky.

I personally think it could be a very good platform for publishing "official" information (governments, shops, journalists, researchers, schools and such), because every account is verified.

Also means you won't find any whistle blowers or "naughty" content. Which, I think, is fine because there are other platforms for that, especially the Fediverse.
