Something was itching

It seems the browser extension does replace affiliate references in links so PayPal gets commission on online purchases. Also replacing links from other affiliates

@stux I'm not against this tactic if they are very transparent about it.

Like, if [good company or charity] said "Install our extension and we replace links around the web with our affiliate links so we make money" then maybe I'd be like "Cool."

But when it's done by a mega-corp in a sneaky way... then.. yeah. Not so cool.

This browser extension has control over what discounts can be applied and not on stores that partner with #Honey

So if you find a better coupon value, #Honey can decide not to apply it or they just lie by giving lower discounts

@stux⚡ I understand, your situation is very different than mine. I only used it for small payments, which usually didn't work unless I added credit card and/or bank account.

But yes, it's crazy that it's still so difficult to do payments online. You'd think that's pretty easy.

Needed to wire money to America a few years ago, by bank. Needed a lot of numbers and codes, and was told it could take up to 6 weeks (!) before the money arrived 🙄

@stux I've tried it few times and it never found me ANY discounts for any of the shops I use in Europe, not even Amazon.de. That was before PayPal bought it. So, for a potential to one day get a discount on something they monitor ALL the shops I visit and everything I browse and PayPal gets that info. Yeah, fuck no. I use PayPal here and there, I don't need to give them another data point.
