It is. Long ago I sang in a chorus associated with the University of Wisconsin. Amateurs but the director was so incredible that we were able to take on some marvelous challenges. When we did the Verdi Requiem we suddenly acquired a bunch of the faculty from the school of music. They all loved it so much they just had to participate.
Ssh. A little secret. I prefer the Brahms Requiem.

There are quite a few very impressive requiems. One of my other favourites is Mozart's.
I have to admit I don't know Brahms' Requiem, only that it's not in Latin but in German. Listening to it now 😉
