Reparations sound like a good idea, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let's make sure Putin and his henchmen are kicked out of #Ukraine first, the rest is for later.

And I hope the Treaty of Versailles has taught us that forcing a country to pay hefty reparations, can have a very negative impact on the future. Let's not make that mistake again, please. I'd rather focus on a Marshall Plan for Ukraine than on making Russia pay a lot of reparations.

reparation sound very justified. but before the russians are kicked out of ukraine it is moot to discuss this. but the russians should be aware that this possibility is still open.

Let's hope those who eventually make things happen, aren't too narrow-minded. I'd rather pay part of the bill to rebuild Ukraine, than force Russia into a situation that will eventually trigger another war.

But again, first priority should be to force Russia to end this war.

@Farhad A I think you're wrong here. The goal of "eliminating the Russian threat once and for all" is a rather dark idea. It suggests something like the aforementioned Treaty of Versailles, which was meant to eliminate the German threat once and for all. And we have seen how that worked out. I hope (and expect) that our politicians have studied the 20th century and understand that they shouldn't make the same mistakes again.

We should aim for a situation in which both Ukraine and Russia are stable countries, countries you can do business with, cultural exchange, tourism, you name it. For Ukraine that would mean rebuilding quite a bit of the country, for Russia it would mean a regime change.

I'd love to see Putin and his clique commit suicide and be succeeded by a truely democratic government, but I'm not holding my breath...
