I've heard non-Dutch people say that they don't know who Thierry Baudet is. Let me enlighten you.

He's the leader of Forum for Democracy, a far right political party that oozes racism, antisemitism and conspiracy theories. He's an MP, unfortunately, but has been suspended for a week for breaking parliamentary rules, a first in Dutch parliamentary history.

We've know for some time that he's deep in Putin's, but in true Kremlin style, he has mostly denied that. But no more. Hear him drop his mask and profess his adoration for Putin, like the treasonist he is:

Oh, my prediction is that he's going to claim that this was "only a joke" and that we all "misunderstood" it. That has been his go to reaction if people call him out on his crap.

@ottona Yup, you have to admit that Putin is a shrewd guy. Let's hope most people in Europe and the rest of the world will turn away from his puppets before they get big enough. Baudet's party is waaaay to big in our parliament for my taste, and I'm sure he has control of parties all over Europe

@hans @ottona No matter how appalling the current government is, and it is terribly anti-democratic with the prime minister openly admitting without any consequence that he lies to parliament, you don't vote for a (semi) fascist party. Full stop. 30 years ago the vast majority of the Dutch people would agree with me. But nowadays things have changed and the population seems to long for a strongman, any strongman. Is it lack of history teaching in the schools?

Not sure, but the problem isn't just in the Netherlands, it seems rampant in the entire western world. Look at the abomination that was elected president in the US in 2016, see what rightwing filth rose up in Sweden and what fascists won the elections in Italy. France and Germany have dodged that bullet so far, but for how long?

@hans My personal analysis is that western politicians have become more self-protectingly dishonest over time. They shun standing open in the full nakedness of honesty. This makes the population cynical: A fascist strongman can not be any worse than the current politics, they reckon. They are dead wrong. The solution is not current politicians fulminating against fascist parties, but they themselves must introspect and become brave enough to be honest again.

@hans I thought that the bit about reptiles was a joke. But there seem to people who really believe that the world is dominated by extra terrestial reptiles, like this British guy David Icke. Well, let them bring in the first reptile for examination, i would say.

@ottona Hardly, indeed, he's very vague about that:

"Those who do this to us, are a kind of inhumans, reptiles, machines. Without feeling, if you will."

Could be a dog whistle, meaning jews, blacks, muslims or whatever Putin dislikes. As stated previously, Baudet (or shall we call him Marionette?) has quite a history of racism and antisemitism.
