The massive gap between the Mozilla CEO's salary (US$6,903,089 in 2022) and the average income of FOSS contributors doesn't help either. It gives the impression of being exploited.

Holy crap, the Mozilla CEO takes 7 million per year?? 😮
I've used it since before it was named Netscape Navigator, but I think it's time to evaluate a few alternatives now...

Technically this is the previous CEO's salary, she resigned in February 2024:

...but those are the figures Mozilla filed:
"According to Mozilla's financial filings, Mitchell Baker's compensation increased from $5,591,406 in 2021 to $6,903,089 in 2022. During that period, Mozilla's revenues ... dipped from $527,585,000 to $510,389,000."
She got a massive pay rise on a lottery-winner-scale salary while Firefox's market share declined and Mozilla's revenues dropped. It makes no sense, but that's what happened.
Really difficult to see how this justifies donations of time or money to Mozilla.

I'd happily pay volunteers who maintain a fork, yes. Wouldn't be the first OS project I support, or the last.
