Nice to see #trams in #CitiesSkylines2 have an extremely small turning circle. A nice help with a #traffic system that isn't really up to par yet, you'd think.

Not sure why, but at this particular spot some trams decide to turn around. On a straight 2-lane street... 🤔

But trams turn out to be real #contortionists:

This is of course not the route that I have defined, and most trams don't do this. I would delete the tram tracks on the other side, but that doesn't work: once you have a double track, you'll have a double track for eternity. Or you have to remove the entire road, rebuild it and then add a single track.

Other than that, sometimes a tram just simply... POOF!... disappears. All passengers flow back onto the pavement or station as if they normally exit the tram, but the tram is gone, so they walk to the nearest tram stop and get on the next one.

@hans is there an accident or a fire up ahead, vehicles turn around when they see them but it's weird that trams can.

Also you can remove tram tracks I think by right-clicking with the upgrade tool

@Matt Crawford Oh, that could be a reason why most trams don't turn around, thanks. I'll check that in the next few days, will take a bit of time.

So that would be another pathfinding problem then, seems plausible. But yes, weird that a fixed-route vehicle would see this as a viable detour. There's no tram running the other direction, only those few deviants. So those abolish their fixed route, which makes sense in case of a total blockage, and find another path.

You'd expect some sort of "curve too tight" or "invalid shape" error if it tries that move, but apparently it is allowed to hop over from one track onto another, doing a 180 in the process, and trundle off.

@hans cities skylines 2: this gentle bend is too tight for a tram.

Also cities skylines 2: I'll allow a 200 degree hairpin for trams.
