Tried the colour coding with a bit of nailpolish on the tips of their tails, but that doesn't seem to work well. There's a hint of blue on one, but the rest is clean again...

Melian came down the stairs, walked into my bathroom... and took a huge dump on the rug! The smell!! 🤢
Took me a while to realize what had happened. I had been advised to make sure she had everything she needed in the #
nursery room, so I had put her #
litterbox there too. I think she didn't want that smelly stuff near her kittens, evolution has probably taught cats that that could alert predators.
So I've put the litterbox back where it had been until she gave birth. Live and learn...
The kittens are alive and kicking, and mom seems happy too:
