After 15 minutes of doing almost nothing, the battery of my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 went from 100% to 75%. Hope to have my brand new @
Fairphone
4 in about 2 weeks or so.

Oi, that is down to 0% in one hour, or you have a very VERY naughty app running on the background, worth checking with all the shite Samsung allows (forces) on its phones, my tablet had a bad case of Microsoft software doing evil unwanted stuff with similar mishaps. And no I did not install the MS crap, Samsung did in an update, and no way (other then root) to get rid of the crapware. It did make me decide never to buy Samsung EVER again >:-) To make a long story short, a forced stop on the running app, and an uninstall (to first installed version, because they can force you to keep the damn thing) solved most of my pain.

My Fairphone will be running /e/ as soon as it's available.

Those Samsung apps suck. You can kill them as often as you like, but 5 minutes later they're running again. This was my first and last Samsung, I can assure you that.

Yep, quite the way to drive potential buyers away.

Is there any way to run (carefully selected) Google Play apps on /e/? I am fully aware that this is not the intention for /e/, and I am highly into de-googlizing myself - But it would be interesting to know whether this is a strict "never ever" decision or there is a backdoor way to run specific apps not available from other sources.

I think it would be possible, because you can install whatever you want on it. I don't expect the makers of /e/ to implement stuff to make it impossible, I think they only strip everything from their version.
But I think you should ask that question on the forum, I'm only thinking out aloud here :)
