#chatcontrol law, within hours Mekic's account received a so-called
#shadowban by X, which makes his tweets invisible in the search function. Shadow bans like these usually last a few days. Users do not get a notification when they start or end, or why they happen at all.
I have experienced such shadow bans myself too, usually after critical replies to Elon Musk. Today, Dutch fact checker Marieke Kuypers also reported to have such a shadow ban.
Journalists should really think twice about whether to use X as a platform, even when the reach is still far higher (as computed by
