@wjmaggos @adhdeanasl yup. this is the threat of traditional centralized social media. on COVID and pretty much all important issues. millions are now "informed" by the loudest voices- hard working anonymous edgelords, troll farms working geopolitical agendas, professional outrage machine "influencers", etc. they work people's ignorance and emotions to indoctrinate and move them into captured echo chambers. it's quite effective and a large toxic pull on society
traditional social media is a really serious threat and i don't think we've seen the bottom yet
it's why i am on mastodon and believe mastodon needs to get to a billion users. the decentralized nature of mastodon functions as a buffer against the worst of these effects
