I don't believe that the everyday people in the streets of Russia are the problem at all. The problem is that when countries like China and Russia are run by paranoid psychos who create a giant death cult out of their cultures, that's where the problems start.

And I'm not saying under my breath in the statement above that the U.S. or the U.K. or Iran or India or any other goddamned country on this rock are any better... they're NOT. All have their faults.

Again, though, as I stated a couple days ago here... how long are the 7.9 billion people on this planet going to allow the small percentage of assholes to dictate everything to us? This is what needs to change.

Some people seem to think it is solved once Putin is gone.

Possible. But removing hims means someone else will take his place. There's a chance that's going to be a good person, but there's also a chance that it's going to be the next megalomanial.

Not removing him means a 100% chance that there's a megalomaniac in the Kremlin.

I've never been a wonder of statistics, but a 50% chance of improvement is better than a 100% guarantee of keeping the status quo.

You have a pitch black outlook on the situation. Still, it's very simple: new leader is a chance for a new era. Same leader means the same shit. With the way you calculate chances I would strongly recommend against going to a casino ;-)

I think "such countries" is rather condescendant. I think that people in "such countries" want their freedom as much as we do, they just keep ending up in a situation where a small group of bad guys grab power and dig in. Look what happened to the French when they finally got rid of Louis XVI: didn't take long before they got Napoleon. But in the end they turned out alright, I would say.
