This is such a lovely piece of music: La petite fille de la mer, from the album
L'apocalypse des animaux, by Vangelis. A simple melody and a lot of melancholy, I love it.
I must have bought this album when I was 16 or 17, and I kept playing this piece over and over again.
The video is nice, but was added later (much later, I assume, as the music was recorded in 1970). There's a bit of distortion/overdrive here and there, I don't know the story behind that. Doesn't sound like it was meant like that, but I can hardly imagine nobody realised this until the records were pressed...
