It had to happen: I've finally run into a user that's only around to irritate people. We've all seen people like that before: venting out strong opinions, making outrageous but unsubstantiated claims and being rude to everyone. The kind of user that makes you love the "superblock" addon in #
Hubzilla, the two-click blacklist.
This one, however, is the kind that simply creates a new account and reposts his vitriol. Over and over and over again. He even boasts about using scripts to automate it all. A sane person would probably find better things to do with his time and knowledge, but evolution creates a few dead ends every now and then. This silly sod keeps registering new accounts on the same hub and repost his junk over and over again, requiring me (and several others) to do those 2 clicks several times a day.
I've contacted the admin of this particular #
Diaspora* pod: I explained the situation, gave them a few of the accounts in question and requested them to look into the matter, but I haven't heard anything back yet. I told them that if they don't stop this user, I'll have to block their entire hub.
I also contacted a user of this hub, and asked him if he knew if the pod admins react to messages, but I haven't heard from him/her yet either. The problem that I've created here, of course, is that if I block this pod, this user will not be able to anwer.
That is the reason why I'd rather not block an entire pod/hub/instance: you lock out all communication with it, also with well-behaved users. Call me an optimist, but I believe that the vast majority of #
Fediverse users are decent people, and that turds like the one I'm dealing with now, are a small minority.
